Because heat waves, flooding, and climate-related hazards won’t disappear anytime soon, how are municipalities adapting to these challenges? This is one of the topics studied by Johann Jacob of the Observatoire québécois de l’adaptation aux changements climatiques (OQACC), with whom we spoke.
Greening initiatives, protecting wetlands, using porous or reflective materials… Through regulations and land‑use planning, municipalities can do a great deal to adapt our living environments to the impacts of climate change and increase their resilience. And as one might expect, urban agriculture is a promising solution on many fronts.
